To anyone that might be interested.
I was the EC for Santa Rosa County, then the DEC for the West Panhandle District. Santa Rosa County is the County Mr. Hubbard lives in. When we tried to upgrade to what was happening now and for the future, digital, etc., Mr. Hubbard didn't like it. He refused to consider the standpoint of our served agencies, stated that no one needed the Level 1,2,or 3 courses from the ARRL, that no one needed the ICS courses and that , if the EM Director of Santa Rosa County needed help that she would "take who I send her and be glad to get them". This was stated in a meeting, so I am not the only one he told this to. No way would he accept Winlink. He even thought D-STAR was a waste of time. He doesn't think that amateur operators should have to have an ID card to gain entrance to an EOC. He even stated that " if Santa Rosa EOC won't let me in, without an ID card, that I will go to an EOC that will".
After all of this, and the ones of us that were doing 99% of ARES for Santa Rosa County left and we formed the Santa Rosa County Auxiliary Communication Service, we have had the full support of Greg Sarratt. All that he has ask is if we will return to ARES after all of this settles down. I will give my full support to Greg and hope that each of you will consider doing the same. Greg knows where we live and what our problems are. He will help us to solve these problems and help to get the ARRL back on course.
I hope each of you will consider Greg.
