For a list of some of the HF check-in Nets, go to http://www.opparc.org/
and click on "HF Nets" down on the side. Two of the more popular Nets
for this area are the Alabama Traffic Net Mike on 3965 kHz at 6:30 PM
every evening, and the North Florida Phone Net on 3950 kHz at 6:30 PM.
Most nights, if you time it just right, you can check into the Alabama
net and then have time swap over to the North Florida net and check in
there. Both of these are on 75/80 Meters.
If there are any others out there with a list of nets or possibly other
modes who would like to share any info, feel free to post back on here!
One suggestion I'd like to make to everyone is to print out a copy of
the latest ARRL Frequency Chart
(http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/regulations/bands.html) and the ARRL
Band Plans (http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/regulations/bandplan.html).
Post these at your station, so you can double-check yourself before
you transmit on the wrong frequency or with the wrong mode (ie, using
phone on the CW portion of a band)!
If anyone needs help with putting up dipoles, or maybe just needs some
help with a new (not necessarily "new", but maybe just new to them) HF
rig, feel free to call us on one of the local repeaters (Andalusia,
Crestview, Opp) for some help, and any of us would be glad to help you
out. That's what part of being amateur operators is about; helping each
other.
