I wish to thank everyone for their support and especially to a few, they know who they are, who have been very helpful in this last minute run for SM. It is a last minute run or I would have been more visible and done a better job. What happened was it looked like Rudy was going to run again unopposed and I just couldn't live with that. So the Jacksonville group nominated me again and off we went. Then I found out that Paul was running. I like Paul fine and talk to him often, great guy. Still my experience is such, I believe, that makes me a more qualified candidate for SM. So I remained in the running because I feel that I best represent full range of interests of NFL amateurs; that I have the most experience in ARRL appointed positions; that I have done the jobs under pressure and can do the SM job without having to learn it (believe me I did it in 2004); and that I can tackle the tough guys in Tallahassee rather than being told how we are going to run ARES (r). That doesn't mean that we won't have cooperation in TLH, but there will be a mutual respect based on the understanding that we have a team of top notch ARRL reps in the Section. The same team will start serving the membership with a delegation of services, not micromanagement, that gives each area the things it needs.
Most importantly, we have to get this section back together as a group of hams enjoying a hobby. This business of an ARES organization that excludes services to counties because they have not marched in locked step with an AREC(c) plan is insane. It's time to remove the barriers and put a section ARES program back together that allows for diversity and ensures a proper response during an emergency. Mutual Aid for adjacent sections north and south. That's going to take some real work. Now you can see how much time has been squandered. But we can do it and really feel like we are doing positive things in the process.
I hope that gives some insight into what I have in mind for the first six months. I say that short amount of time because it will be in the prime time of hurricane season. Mr. Gray's forecast didn't look too favorable.
Thanks for your support and 73,
Dale Sewell W4NBF

Subject: [SARC] Section Manager Election
I had said that I was not going to get involved in this election, but I have received so many e-mails asking my opinion, that I guess I will. At the Orlando Ham Fest, Mr. Eakin told Steve and Malcoln that he wanted to talk to me about what happened in Santa Rosa County to make us leave ARES. As of today, I am still waiting on his call. Seems that he and Rudy Hubbard are traveling around the Section together, so I guess he only wants one side of the story. I wasn't at the Milton Club meeting last month, but I understand he stated that he would "straighten out" Santa Rosa County when he got elected. This I would like to see. He even has problems with his bio sent from ARRL; you don't sign up for ICS 700, you just take it!!!!
Dale Sewell has a real concern for our area, and I would ask that you consider him for Section Manager. No matter all the garbage that Rudy put out last election about Dale, I can't find any truth in it. Since Rudy and Paul are traveling around together, I expect to have the same thing as before if Paul is elected. I personally will be voting for Dale Sewell, and hope you do, too.
Thanks and 73,
Bobby
