FYI.....

I have the audio up and working again, after several days of down time. Hopefully, it will stay on from now on (for the most part, anyway).

I also wanted to inform you that the computer I'm running this on does NOT have backup-power. Therefore, if the power goes out, or the Internet connection goes down, it goes off. So, DO NOT rely on this audio stream during severe weather. This is meant to be for informational and convenience purposes, and does not replace a NOAA WX Alert radio. It can be used for severe weather monitoring, but I cannot guarantee that it will stay up at any time.

My plan is to move this to a location with backup power, so that it will be more reliable. However, it is still dependent on an Internet connection. Therefore, if the Internet goes down, either on the server end, or the client (you), you will not be able to listen to the Wx stream. So, please keep an alternative method of listening for your weather alerts.

My original e-mail I sent out is below, so that you will know what I'm referring to.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I now have a NOAA Weather Radio audio stream on the internet for those who would be interested in using it. Might be something you could pass on to your friends so that they could listen in at work/home if they're not near a NOAA weather alert radio.

NOTE: It's recommended that you have a broadband connection to listen (cable modem, DSL, wireless, T-1, etc.).

To listen in, you have a couple of options.

First, you can go here: http://audioplayer.wunderground.com/ki4rwl/opp_al.mp3.m3u and it will play the audio stream in your default mp3 program (Windows Media, WinAmp, etc.).

Or, if you'd like to get local weather information and forecast information along with the NOAA audio stream, visit: http://www.wunderground.com/ and type in your local ZIP code in the box at the top left fo the screen (Next to the Weather Underground logo) and press "Enter" or click the "search" button next to the box. Then, scroll down about mid-way of the page that loads, and choose "Weather Radio". Then select the station you wish to listen to (Dozier, AL), and press the "play" icon. While on this same page, you can also look at forecast information, local weather station conditions, and lots of other interesting information.
