Subject: N1 JOTA JOTI
North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club Scouts
JOTA and JOTI event Saturday October 18th.
JOTA is the International Scouting Jamboree On The Air. Amateur radio clubs
set up stations to make it possible for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts
and affiliated youth groups to get on the air and talk to other Scouts all
over the world. JOTI (Jamboree On The Internet) is a recent addition that
has Scouts using internet chat and VOIP to communicate with other Scouts.
The past two years we held JOTA as a camping event out at the WB4CDR-E Y
Mock Blueberry Farm. This year we will hold an all day event at our club
meeting place; the Dorcas Fire Station #42. We have three beams up on a 30
foot tower so we can operate 20,15,10, 6 meters and 2 meters. And if there
are enough volunteers we can put up some wire antennas using push-up poles.
KE4KEM-Darryl Huddleston will conduct the Radio Merit Badge class from
noon-3pm as part of our JOTA program.
KI4MEU-Bob Murphy and W4GMH-Cal Zethmayr are the project co-chairs for
JOTA/JOTI. Bob is planning on cookin’ up some Q, and Cal has asked his old
buddy Col. Sanders to send out some of his best treats, so we’ll have plenty
of food for lunch and snackin’ on into the evening.
We’ll start setting up between 7-8am, and will operate into the evening
depending on how many scouts want to participate and how many operators we
have to keep 3 or more rigs on the air.
Anyone can participate. If you were ever a Scout, if you have Scout’s in
your family, this once a year event is a chance for you to be a Scout
again…and for our club to provide another community service.
If you would like to be part of JOTA/JOTI on October 18th please contact

Or W4GMH Cal Zethmayr – W4GMH at COX.NET
